By bike

There is plenty of space to park your bicycle next to the main entrance at Stratumsedijk. Bicycle parking Heuvel is the closest guarded parking and is a 10-minute walk from the museum. The Van Abbemuseum is connected to the bicycle junction network; bicycle junction 89.

By car

Eindhoven can be reached via the A2, the A50 and the A67. Regardless of which direction you come from, drive in the direction of the city centre. Follow the signs to one of the parking garages in the centre, all within 5 minutes walking distance of the Van Abbemuseum: Q-Park parking Stadhuisplein, Parking Stadskantoor or Q-Park parking Heuvel. Traveling from the south? Park inexpensively at P+R Genneperparken and travel from there by bus, shared bicycle or scooter to the city centre. Information about all public parking places in Eindhoven, the parking fees and opening times can be found on the website of the Eindhoven Municipality.

By train

Every half hour trains from Amsterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Venlo, Heerlen and Maastricht arrive in Eindhoven. Please check schedules via www.ns.nl.

City transport: bus & train

The bus station is located on the north side of the NS railway station Eindhoven Central Station. Several buses stop near the museum, such as stop Bilderdijklaan (1 minute walk), Smalle Haven (3 minutes walk), Stadhuisplein (4 minutes walk), PC Hooftlaan (4 minutes walk) or Keizersgracht (9 minutes walk) to our main entrance at Stratumsedijk 2. Blind and partially blind

Multisensory guided tour

Van Abbemuseum developed a multisensory tour with and for the blind and visually impaired. During the tour you will touch small replicas of paintings and sculptures, which will spark your senses. Smells, tastes, music, literature and poetry all bring the works of art to life.

Practical information

The multisensory tour is every second Sunday of the month, at 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Participation is free when you have a ticket to the museum. One caregiver per person receives free entry. Keep on discovering: every month we highlight a different part of the museum.

Delinking and Relinking - the Exhibition

Delinking and Relinking is an exhibition where you can smell, hear and see and experience art in a different way. Think of braille, cards to smell, drawings to touch, and sound landscapes. Delinking and Relinking is widely accessible to wheelchair users and to visually and hearing impaired visitors.

Tik-Tik

Together with blind designer Simon Dogger we developed the navigation app Tik-Tik for blind visitors. The app allows for easy navigation through the museum.

ReadSpeaker webReader

ReadSpeaker webReader reads the content of a website out loud. Tap the read-out-loud-button at the top of each website. A voice will read you the text while it's being highlighted, making it easier to read along.

Sign Language Tours

Van Abbemuseum offers tours in Sign Language of the Netherlands (SLN), fluent American Sign Language (ASL), or International Sign (IS). The tour is free with a museum ticket and takes 1,5 hours. Smartify Tours in Dutch Sign Language

Van Abbemuseum offers a variety of free digital tours in the museum app Smartify. Five tours are available in Dutch Sign Language. In Smartify, select Dutch Sign Language from the drop-down menu.

Hearing Loop System

In the museum auditorium visitors wearing hearing aids can comfortably listen to the sound of the installation through the available hearing loop system.

Alzheimer

Unforgettable Van Abbe

Looking at art stimulates the brain. That's why we have developed Unforgettable Van Abbe, an interactive guided tour for people with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Experiencing the works of art in safe and inspiring surroundings will spark up a conversation. By sharing stories, memories and ideas the art comes to life. During the tour it's easy to connect with others with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. This provides a positive experience for participants and caregivers.

The tour is every second Monday of the month, from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM and is free when you have a ticket to the museum. Please check our activities page. Aphasia & brain injury

Spraakmakend Van Abbe

Every day, we use language in lots of different ways. We understand each other by speaking, listening, reading and gesturing, for example. However, sometimes certain parts of our 'language instruments' don't function quite right. We call this aphasia. Art lovers with aphasia or brain injury can now enjoy the museum with Spraakmakend Van Abbe. In this interactive guided tour you visit the museum with like-minded people and share experiences with each other.

Take a sensory break

We take the preferences and wishes of our visitors into consideration during this tour: we lower sensory input as much as we can. By turning off the sound coming from artworks or installations, for example. Moreover, the tour always takes place on Mondays when the museum is closed to other visitors.

Sharing with like-minded people

Spraakmakend Van Abbe is a positieve, creative and inspiring tour with like-minded people. People who know what it is like to open their hearts once again, to take the step and dare to live. By wanting to experience art again, for example, and share the experience with others. The tour finishes with a cup of coffee or tea in the museumcafé. This is often the moment where participants really reach out to each other and get to share their stories.

Tour guides Mijke and Jenneke

Mijke Ulrich has lived experience of the issue and is a social worker. She developed the tour in collaboration with art historian Jenneke Lambert. As a person with first-hand knowledge, Mijke supports the participants every step of the way. Museum docent Trienette Stevens tells participants everything there is to know about the exhibitions.

Guided tour

The tour is free with a museum ticket. It takes place every two months on Mondays, from 1 PM until 3 PM. One caregiver or companion per person may enter for free.

Take a sensory break

Removing invisible boundaries

During museum visits, we process lots of impressions in a short period of time. Crowdedness, sounds, lights, and countless other triggers are stimulating your senses. That can be very tiring. Especially when you have autism, acquired brain injury (non-congenital brain injury), or when you process impressions differently. That's why Van Abbemuseum offers trigger-free museum visits.

These trigger-free museum visits are developed with Stichting Onbeperkt Genieten, as part of Unlimited Van Abbe. A program that makes the museum more accessible to all visitors.

House rules

Works of art are fragile. To prevent damage, we ask everyone not to bring their coats, bags larger than A3 size, backpacks and umbrellas with them to the museum. A limited number of free lockers are available for storing items. The management of the museum is not liable for loss, damage or theft of personal belongings.
It goes without saying that artworks should not be touched. For safety reasons, keep some distance from the artworks. When visiting with young children, we ask the parents or supervisors to be extra attentive. Running around in the museum is prohibited.
Loud phone calls with a mobile phone are not permitted inside the building.
Smoking is only allowed on the terrace of Van Abbe café.

For security reasons within the building, the instructions of security personnel must be followed at all times.
Bringing or consuming food and drinks from outside of the museum is not allowed anywhere.
Dogs are not allowed in the museum, with the exception of guide dogs.
During the visit you can use the open wireless network (WIFI), based on Fair Use Policy and entirely at your own risk. The Van Abbemuseum is not responsible for any claims arising from the activities of the users.
